The Health Ministry's department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) will assume the responsibility of yoga, and it will be performed only for recreational reason from January 1, 2017.
So what happened inside 15 months that the Sports Ministry lost enthusiasm for yoga? What happened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forceful push to advance yoga as a "game" to promote it all around after he had required the appropriation of June 21 as the International Yoga Day? All things considered, it is the Ministry's absence of vision and its failure to hold national titles that constrained it to drop yoga as a game. After yoga's formal presentation in the "need" classification on September 1, 2015, the Ministry thought that it was hard to shape the Yoga Federation of India (YFI) and hold the Nationals. "We neglected to acknowledge before including yoga as a game that there was no chance we could have held a national title with such a large number of asanas included," said a source in the Ministry.
"In which classification, we could have held a title? In the wake of talking about the issue with various yoga specialists, the Ministry reasoned that it would be almost difficult to hold the Nationals. Besides, there were no certifiable individuals approaching to frame a league. A couple of recommendations we got were altogether debated, and they had no genuine aim to advance yoga. They were all taking a gander at government financing. The Ministry ought to have gotten its work done before reporting yoga as a games train."
The Ministry's thought was to carry yoga at standard with acrobatic and push for its consideration in the Commonwealth and Asia Games. Yoga wasn't even a game, yet it was straightaway placed in the "need" list.
