Sri Lanka crossed 7500 COVID-19 positive cases

A police officer appointed in the Sri Lankan parliament complex tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 causing coronavirus followed by which the authorities have closed the Parliament premises to disinfect it on Monday, October 26. The Parliament sources said, as a precautionary measure the Parliament will be closed for two days and the disinfectant process is to be carried out.

The test results of the close associates of the infected policeman are expected this evening. An additional 22 parliament staffers will be tested on Tuesday. The Sri Lankan media reported the sources has said that the curfews imposed in several areas in Colombo including Pettah, Fort and Borella will be reviewed every three days. Curfew will continue till the areas get stable. The coronavirus-related curfew zones has been raised to 56 police divisions on Sunday, to keep check on the virus spread through the community-level transmission.

7,521 COVID-19 cases has been reported till now, in the last 4 days the Colombo city has contributed 548 cases almost 8% of the total cases. Since October 4, the country has reported 4,050 cases from two sources a garment export factory in Minuwangoda, Western Province and a wholesale fish market in Peliyagoda, a suburban area of Colombo. Almost 50% of the total cases, 3714 have been discharged from hospitals after complete recovery.
