SRINAGAR: By outpacing all other smart cities in the nation in terms of project completion, Srinagar Smart City has accomplished a significant milestone. said Athar Aamir Khan, CEO of Srinagar Smart City (SSCL), 55 projects have been successfully completed, and work is currently being done on an additional 70 projects.

By June 2024, Srinagar will transform into a smart city. Under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs' Smart City Mission, 125 projects totaling Rs 930 crore have been approved.

Athar Amir Khan, CEO of Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL) said that out of the 125 projects, 56 projects totaling Rs 320 crore have been finished, while the remaining 69 projects are in various stages of development. While some initiatives have advanced 80–90%, others are still in the beginning stages. "By the end of this year's December, the majority of the projects will be finished. By June 2024, the roughly 16 ongoing projects will be finished, according to Khan.

When the smart city initiatives are finished, Khan said that Srinagar would see a significant makeover. We are creating 'walking infrastructure' in the city that will cover about 80 kilometres, which is unheard of. All around the city, there will be footpaths and pedestrian lanes.

Integrated Command and Control Centre HMT, 175 km Srinagar Fibre Optic Internet System, Intelligent Traffic Management System, Green Srinagar, City Beautification and Urban Art, Heritage Conservation and Downtown Renewal, Central Business District Upgrading, Dal Lake Front Conservation, Shalimar Canal Project, and Intelligent Traffic Management System are just a few of the projects that fall under the umbrella of the "smart city mission. All the projects are connected and integrated so that we can transform the entire city of Srinagar.", he said.

The Polo View Market is the city of Srinagar's first entirely wire-free and pedestrian market, he said. The market has open access, separate subsurface electrical and communication networks, underground networks for sewerage and drainage, building facade upgrades and public lavatory facilities.

The entire city is currently undergoing a thorough renovation by smart city officials. Once finished, Srinagar is anticipated to develop into a spectacular travel spot for Americans nationwide.

Khan said that numerous other areas in Srinagar, in addition to the Polo View Market, have undergone extensive restorations. "Lal Chowk is undergoing renovations. The Lal Chowk area was going to get a thorough makeover from us. There are four ongoing projects: the Lal Chowk precinct, Ghantaghar, Residency Road, and Mecca Market. We would completely renovate the area with a budget of Rs 27 crore. By the middle of July this year, we will have finished the Lal Chowk area renovations, he said, adding that the city has improved as a location to live, work, and travel, becoming cleaner, more structured, and simpler to navigate.

One illustration of the wonderful things taking on in Srinagar is the remodelling of the Polo View Market. There will undoubtedly be a lot more fascinating innovations in the coming future with the city's Smart City project in full gear.
