Filmmaker SS Rajamouli just completed his temple run after months of waging an Oscar campaign earlier this year. The director released a video on Twitter describing his family's trip to various temples in central Tamil Nadu.
The filmmaker described going on an exploratory journey to find new areas of Tamil Nadu as "refreshing and uplifting" while he was travelling the US earlier this year as part of the Oscar campaign for RRR.

SS Rajamouli posted the video on Instagram, saying, “Wanted to do a road trip in central Tamil Nadu for a long time. Thanks to my daughter who wanted to visit temples, we embarked upon it. Had been to Srirangam, Darasuram, Brihadeeswarar koil, Rameshwaram, Kanadukathan, Thoothukudi and Madurai in the last week of June. Could only touch the tip of the iceberg in the given few days. Exquisite architecture, amazing engineering and deep spiritual thought of Pandyas, Chozhas, Nayakkars and many other rulers was truly mesmerizing.”
The director claimed he gained about three kilogrammes in a week because of the "marvellous" meals he consumed. But after his quick tour of the US, he views the road trip as a good experience. He went on to say, "Whether the fine dining in Mantrakoodam, Kumbakonam or a kaka hotel murugan mess in Rameshwaram the food has been marvelous everywhere… I must have put on 2-3 kilos in a week. After 3 months of foreign travel and food, this home land tour has been refreshing and uplifting.
The video ended with the message, “Exploring central Tamil Nadu’s rich heritage and divine tranquility was soul stirring.”
In the video, he can be seen kayaking, sipping a refreshing beverage at a roadside kiosk to beat the heat, and posing in front of many temples. Fans of SS Rajamouli praised him for promoting Tamil Nadu, and some speculated that the visit would show up in some of his next films.
SS Rajamouli is anticipated to start working on his new project with Mahesh Babu soon following the worldwide success of RRR. As a "African jungle adventure" movie, the movie is marketed.
