On March 30, 1988, in Jakarta, Indonesia, a girl named Wayan Mirna Salihin was born. Her father was a businessman, and her mother was a homemaker. As Mirna grew up, she aspired to build a career in graphic designing. To pursue her dream, she moved to Australia in 2007. In Australia, Mirna enrolled at Billy Blue College of Design in Sydney. It was there that she struck up a close friendship with a girl named Jessica Kumala Wongs, and they soon became best friends. They spent time together from college to exploring the city, sharing every detail of their lives with each other. Jessica, like Mirna, came from a wealthy Indonesian family, and her birth year was also 1988.

According to The Guardian, Jessica and Mirna studied together at the college for four years, strengthening their bond. They knew each other inside out, and every little detail of their lives was an open book. However, after completing their studies, Mirna decided to return to Jakarta and pursue a job there, while Jessica's father had relocated to Sydney. Therefore, Jessica chose to stay with her family in Sydney. Mirna had a boyfriend named Aried Soemarko, who was also from Indonesia but studying in Melbourne, Australia. When he returned to Indonesia, they made plans to get married. Mirna shared this news with Jessica, who was thrilled. However, as time passed, Jessica noticed a change in Mirna's behavior.

Mirna's relationship with Aried had become strained due to his drug addiction. She advised Jessica to stay away from Patrick O'Connor, a fellow student from their college who was also a drug addict. Jessica heeded Mirna's advice and distanced herself from Patrick. Despite knowing that Jessica didn't like her interference, Mirna believed she was looking out for her best friend's well-being. Subsequently, Mirna returned to Indonesia, and in November 2015, she married Aried. She did not invite Jessica to the wedding. When asked why, she explained that Jessica had changed and misunderstood her intentions.

While Mirna's life seemed to be going well after marriage, Jessica's life took a different turn. She became deeply entangled in a troubled relationship with Patrick, and her drinking problem escalated. Eventually, she lost her job due to her alcohol consumption. Jessica found herself without a job and boyfriend. She decided to return to Indonesia. As per the plan, she arrived in Indonesia and sent a message to Mirna, who agreed to meet her despite receiving no response earlier. On December 12, 2015, Mirna, along with her husband Aried, met Jessica at a restaurant in the Grand Indonesian Shopping Mall.

Jessica had already ordered iced coffee for everyone. However, when Mirna took a sip of her coffee, she started feeling unwell and collapsed. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically passed away. It was later revealed through a post-mortem report that her coffee had been poisoned with cyanide, leading to her death.

The case was brought to the attention of the police. They interviewed the restaurant's chef, who confirmed that he had prepared the iced coffee for all of them. Suspicion then fell on Jessica due to her actions. When questioned by the police, she confessed to her crime, stating that she wanted revenge on Mirna for her interference in her relationship with Patrick. Mirna's actions had caused a rift between them. She had also developed a drinking problem and lost her job, all of which Jessica blamed on Mirna. The court, taking into account the evidence, found Jessica guilty of Mirna's murder and sentenced her to 20 years in prison. Jessica is currently serving her sentence in prison, but she shows no remorse for her actions.
