The three-member committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development is going to visit the institute to find solutions in view of the situation with the students in the midst of continuous protests following the increase in fees at Jawaharlal Nehru University on Friday.

According to the media report, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad demonstrated the issue of increase in fees in JNU on Thursday. The ABVP had planned to march from Mandi House to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) office, but the Delhi Police stopped the students near the Parliament Street police station. Police detained 160 students, out of which three were Divyang and some students. The ABVP also demanded the resignation of MHRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank that the high-level committee set up by the ministry be dissolved. In March, ABVP state minister Siddharth Yadav, JNU unit president Durgesh Kumar, unit minister Manish Jangid were also present. DU students and teachers have also supported the students of JNU. Some students of DU also shouted slogans in support of JNU students on Wednesday and Thursday in the faculty. The students said that the JNU administration should immediately withdraw the increased fees.
