Washington: The storm has caused severe destruction in the US state of California. So far 19 people have died due to floods, thunderstorms, snow, and landslides. Authorities have issued an alert for more floods and landslides. Along with this, power cuts have also been warned. Strong icy winds are still blowing there, this is also affecting relief and rescue work.

California has been hit by six severe storms in the last two weeks since December 26. This has affected 90 percent of the state's population. 3.4 crore people are still at risk of flooding. More than 2 lakh houses still do not have electricity due to the storm. Severe flooding in northern California cities such as Carmel and Pebble Beach, a tourist attraction, has raised water levels in the nearby Salinas River. It has turned into an island. The water level of the Salinas river rose to dangerous levels on Friday (January 13) morning. Authorities have evacuated about 24,000 people from the banks of the rivers.

Nancy Ward, director of California's Governor of Emergency Services, told the media, "This storm is one of the deadliest natural disasters in the modern history of our state.'' According to the Meteorological Department, 4 more storms are expected in the next 10 days. This can greatly affect the northern California area.
