The day of 26 July 1999 is recorded in golden letters in Indian history. This is the same day that India won the victorious title in the long battle fought against Pakistan for more than 2 months. Many soldiers of India played an important role in Kargil war and many soldiers gave their lives to sacrifice.

Father and son fought together, son became martyr: Kargil war has many memories associated with it. Tales of our brothers are very popular even today. There was a father-son duo who fought together in Kargil's war. The story of Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Gobind Singh Bisht and his son Lt Hemant Singh Mahar Bisht serves to fill new energy in all. During the Kargil War, Gobind Singh and Lieutenant Hemant Singh were handling different positions, although both had the same division. India got success in the Kargil war. After this, Lieutenant Colonel Gobind Singh had gone back to his battalion. On the one hand, however, Lieutenant Hemant Kargil continued on the outskirts even after the operation, because Pakistan was not deterring from his antics even after this. On 18 September 2000, a commando team was asked to cross the border. It was necessary to teach the enemy a lesson. After being successful in this, the enemies fired seven bullets in Hemant's chest. Another son had sacrificed his life for India. Posthumously Hemant received the Shaurya Chakra, which was assumed by his father Gobind Singh.
