KHARTOUM :  SudanTransitional Sovereign Council chairman announced that Sudan's military will not participate in talks facilitated by the international community to pave the way for the civil groups to form an independent government.

A supreme council of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces will be constituted to command the regular forces, according to Sudan news report. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan reportedly promised to abolish the sovereign council after the installation of a new government.

To facilitate intra-Sudanese discourse and address the nation's political turmoil, the UN, the African Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development have established a tripartite structure.

Since October 25, 2021, when Al-Burhan, who is also the general commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, announced a coup and overthrew the Sovereign Council and the government, Sudan has been experiencing a political crisis. Since then, protests calling for a return to civilian government have been ongoing in Khartoum, the capital, and other places.
