Bollywood writer-director Sudhir Mishra’s is back with a new film titled “Dass Dev”. The film’s trailer was released on youtube on Thursday. Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari are in key roles.
The film is adapted by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s 1917 love novel “Devdas”. The characters are adapted and the setting is placed in contemporary Uttar Pradesh. The film has politics as its theme. As evident from the trailer, the film is packed with good dialogues, cinematic scenes depicting violence.
The protagonist, Dev is played by Rahul Bhat who also appeared in Anurag Kashyap directed Ugly. He is Dev, the protagonist of the novel. Richa Chadha is playing Dev’s childhood sweetheart Paro and Aditi Rao Hydari will be seen playing the role of Chanda, the courtesan in the novel.
Vineet Kumar Singh, who was last seen in Mukkabaaz, would also star in the film along with Anurag Kashyap, Vipin Sharma, and Saurabh Shukla in important roles.
The film was initially titled as “Aur Devdas”. The release date is set on March 23 this year. Sudhir Mishra started his career assisting Kundan Shah in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and has since then made critically acclaimed films like Hazaron Khawahishein Aisi, Chameli, Dharavi and Tera Kya Hoga Johnny among others.
