Lucknow: A class 8 student in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur on Sunday committed suicide. When the police conducted the post-mortem of the body, it came to light. In fact, the post-mortem report confirmed that the student was pregnant. It is believed that the girl took the suicidal step due to this tension. After receiving the news of the girl's pregnancy, the deceased girl's mother lodged a complaint against a youth. The deceased girl's mother says that the youth often harassed her daughter and followed her. On the complaint of the deceased girl's mother, the police have launched a search for the accused youth.

On Monday, SSP Gaurav Grover met the deceased's mother at her house and assured her of action. According to the report, Achhalal, a resident of the Pipraich area, had come out on bail and he often molested the girl. On Sunday, the deceased girl's mother had gone to the doctor, while her younger brother had gone out of work and the girl was alone at home. In the evening, when the mother returned, she saw the child hanging from the ceiling.

The mother told the police that she knew that Achhalal was molesting her daughter, but she was not aware of her being pregnant. The girl's father died in 2011 and her elder sister is married. Achhalal has 18 cases of offences like rape, robbery, cheating and theft registered against him and he came out of jail on bail in a robbery case a year ago. Police said the accused will be arrested soon.
