New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Devdutt Padikal scored a century against Rajasthan Royals in the 16th match of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday. This was the second century scored by any batting this season. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has been impressed by Devdutt's batting. He believes the batsman will soon be seen playing for India as well.
Gavaskar further said, "I will not be surprised at all if it appears to be playing for India in any format in the near future. The player has class and the ability to make it to Team India. He has a lot of runs in first-class and Ranji Trophy as well as several centuries. "In the 50-over match, this batsman has played a lot of centuries. He has also scored a lot of runs in the domestic T20 tournament. So that is why I will not be surprised at all if they get a chance early or late in Team India".
Gavaskar said, "The best batsmen have always come from Karnataka. Gundappa Vishwanath, Rahul Dravid, and now KL Rahul. If K L Rahul knows, he is one of the stars who need to trust as much as they can. Sometimes you will feel that he does not believe in himself, he is a very talented player. There are also Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair who scored triple centuries in Tests. Karnataka has a very good batting order".
