New Delhi: Punjab's veteran leader Sunil Jakhar, who has resigned from the Congress, has joined the BJP today. Sunil Jakhar has joined the party in the presence of BJP Chief JP Nadda in Delhi today. During this, Jakhar said, 'I am grateful to everyone that I joined the BJP. Wasn't an easy job. I have a 50 year old association with Congress. I have been in Congress for three generations.
He further said that I have never done the work of breaking politics for personal interest. Punjab is the land of Sadhu Pir. This is the beginning of nationalism. There was no personal quarrel but there were some issues. There is no discrimination in Punjab so far. I was put in the dock for the fact that I raised the question that you cannot divide Punjab into any caste and religion.
Let us inform that Sunil Jakhar had resigned from the membership of Congress on 14 May. However, since the time of the Punjab Assembly elections, he was having a rift with the Congress. In Punjab, after the resignation of Captain Amarinder Singh, when the party made Charanjit Singh Channi the chief minister, Jakhar had also expressed his displeasure by making statements several times. However, at that time Rahul Gandhi had also tried to persuade Sunil Jakhar during the Punjab elections.
