New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Republic Media Group to file a petition in the Bombay High Court in connection with the Television Rating Points (TRP) scam filed by the Mumbai police. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Justice Indu Malhotra and Justice Indira Banerjee said that the High Court has also been working during the Corona epidemic and the media group should go to him as his office is in Worli.
Senior advocate Harish Salve, who appeared for the media house, has expressed doubts over the ongoing probe and said, "The practice of interviewing commissioners is being observed in recent days. The Mumbai police have registered a case over the TRP scam and summoned Republic TV Chief Financial Officer S Sundaram for investigation. The police have already arrested the owners of 'Fata Marathi' and 'box cinema'. The petition has been filed in the court by arg Outlyer Media Pvt. Ltd., which is owned by the Republic Media Network.
According to the Mumbai police, some channels were manipulating the ratings by making a dent in the system. The houses where the TRP meters were fitted were asked to leave their channel by paying money. This had a great impact on the weekly ratings of BARC. However, the channels which came in the name have accused the police of implicating them by clearly dismissing the matter of doing something like that.
