New Delhi: The Supreme Court of the country has asked the Maharashtra government and others to file replies on a PIL in the Palghar mob violence case. The court has sought a response from the Maharashtra government on the petitions urging the CBI, the NIA, to investigate the murder case by the mob. Now the next hearing of this case will be held in the second week of July.

The court has asked the Maharashtra government to file the reply in two weeks. The apex court has issued notice to the Government of Maharashtra, DGP, CBI. Earlier on May 1, the Supreme Court had sought a status report from the state government in the Palghar lynching case of Maharashtra. The Supreme Court has currently refused to put stay on the investigation. In one petition, the CBI has been sought and in the second the NIA has been asked to investigate the case.

Relatives of the sadhus and sadhus of Juna Akhada have filed a petition in the apex court seeking a CBI probe into the case. This petition states that he has no faith in the investigation of the Government of Maharashtra and the police as the needle of suspicion in the case is on the police. In such a situation, the police is not expected to conduct a fair investigation, so the case should be investigated by the CBI.

The Supreme Court has also given notice on a second petition seeking a probe from the NIA. These petitions will be heard in the second week of July. The Maharashtra government opposed the petition saying that a similar petition is pending in the Bombay High Court.
