New Delhi: The apex court on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the central government's delay in filling up vacant posts (Vacancies in Tribunals) in various tribunals across the country. The Supreme Court has expressed deep displeasure over paralyzing the functioning of the tribunals and removing people from legal measures due to vacancies.

A bench of Chief Justice NV Ramana and Justice Suryakant cautioned the Central government that if immediate action is not taken, the court will summon top central government officials. We don't know what your stand is, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, said in court. You want the tribunal to continue or close it. On this, CJI said that he has given details of tribunals and vacancies to the Central Government and demanded prompt action. Otherwise, top officials will have to be present before the court.

The court has warned that I have named tribunals and vacancies. Please take a stand within a week and report to the court. If that doesn't happen, we'll call all the top officials across the country to appear before us. "To which SG Mehta said it would not be required. Please give us 10 days." The court agreed and posted the matter for further hearing on August 16.
