New Delhi: Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and son and wife of Lok Sabha MP Azam Khan have received a major relief from the apex court. The Supreme Court today rejected the UP government's plea upholding the bail granted by the Allahabad High Court. The UP government had said in the court that 20 cases are pending against these persons and hence they should not be granted bail. The apex court asked what was the fault of the son and wife.

Azam Khan's wife and son were granted bail by the Allahabad High Court last year in a case filed against possession of a property. The apex court was hearing this case. Azam and his wife allege that they had built the certificate of son Abdullah Azam Khan from two places and his date of birth is different in both the certificates.

The Allahabad High Court had ordered the immediate release of jailed SP MP Azam Khan's wife Dr. Tanjine Fatima and his son Mohammad Abdullah Azam Khan for allegedly making fake birth certificates. Azam has been in Sitapur jail including son Abdullah for nearly 11 months. His wife Dr Tanjin Fatima has been released from jail sometime back. Abdullah is now relieved of the Supreme Court.
