New Delhi: The apex court has now refused to monitor the probe into the Nambi Narayan case, a former scientist at the Indian Space Research Institute (ISRO). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will take action against the erring officials. The apex court on Monday (July 26, 2021) asked CBI to complete the investigation in the ISRO case and take action as per law. The court said the investigation and legal action should be taken on the basis of FIR and investigation of CBI.
According to reports, a lawyer appearing for the accused urged the court to share with them the report of the Justice DK Jain Committee constituted in the case. A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjeev Khanna said, "The report is just preliminary information. CBI cannot proceed against you (accused) just on the basis of the report. They have to investigate, gather facts, and then move ahead according to the law. Finally, the matter will be investigated. The report may not be the basis of your prosecution.''
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the FIR filed by the CBI contains the gist of the report. The bench further said that the report says that FIR has been registered but it has not been posted on the website. Mehta said that the FIR registered in the case has been filed in the concerned court and can be uploaded on the website if the court gives permission.
