New Delhi: According to the Hindu Panchag, the month of Sawan has started from July 25 and 26th July is the first Monday of this month. Where Hindus around the world are bowing to Lord Shiva on the first Monday of Sawan. Former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad shared a video in which he himself wrote Rudrashtakam (eight verses to praise Lord Shankarji) written by Goswami Tulsidas.

Venkatesh's tweet was followed by praise from many. People were also surprised to see Venkatesh connected to his roots even after living the dazzling life of a cricketer. Some people have thanked him for making such a video on the first Monday of Sawan and some commented on him and gave him important information related to Sawan. On the other hand, there were some Left users who said on the former cricketer's Rudrashtakam video that he should work hard till he gets a ticket from the BJP. On the other hand, some people said that Sawan has not yet started in South India.

According to the Hindu calendar, Sawan is the fifth month of the year. It is mentioned in the Puranas that the churning of the sea took place this month. One of the fourteen divine objects that came out of it during the churning of the sea was a commotion. In order to save the Brahmin, Lord Shiva drank the whole commotion and did not allow him to get down from his throat. It was because of this poison that Mahadev's throat turned blue and he also got a name neelkanth.
