New Delhi: A review petition of Akshay, convicted in the Nirbhaya rape case, could not be heard in the apex court today. Chief Justice SA Bobde distanced himself from hearing the case. Actually the name of the relative of Chief Justice Bobde is in the list of lawyers appearing during the old hearing, in this case, hence the CJI separated itself in this case. Now on Wednesday, the new bench will hear the case.

It is noteworthy that Nirbhaya's mother was also to be heard in the court today in protest against the reconsideration petition. On the other hand, after today's order of the apex court, the plea to the convicts should be hanged in Patiala House Court on Wednesday afternoon. The hearing was scheduled to be held at noon, but today the hearing has been adjourned.

Earlier the court had said that the plea of convict Akshay to be heard in the apex court on December 17, will have to wait for the verdict. Thereafter, the hearing will be held on 18 December. Nirbhaya's parents, who filed the petition during the hearing, were also present in the court room. Now the court will hear the matter tomorrow i.e. on Wednesday.
