New Delhi: The Supreme Court of the country has issued a notice to the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur on the plea of Sharjeel Imam, an alumnus of JNU-based Jawaharlal Nehru University JNU. Earlier, the apex court had issued a notice to the Kejriwal government of Delhi on the plea of Sharjeel Imam seeking to attach the FIRs registered in different states together and get the same agency investigated.

The sedition accused Sharjeel Imam has demanded a simultaneous investigation in Delhi on all 5 FIRs against him for making inflammatory speeches. The Sharjil Imam says that he gave 2 speeches in Jamia and Aligarh, but he did not upload his video on social media himself. Sharjil Imam is currently imprisoned in Assam jail. The Assam Police arrested him. Now after 2 weeks, the case will be heard again in the top court.

Earlier, it was reported in the media that the crime branch investigating the riots in Delhi in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Citizenship Register (NRC) found out that former JNU student Sharajeel Imam had deliberately spread across the country including Delhi Provided inflammatory speeches for the purpose of rioting. In his speech, Sharjil Imam had asked people to separate Assam from India.
