Supreme Court judges reprimands advocates for not being present in courtroom

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has insisted that lawyers be present in the courtroom to present their arguments in the hearings to be held during the summer vacation. Along with this, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of some such cases, in which advocates appeared through video conference.

Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice B. A vacation bench of V. Nagarathna said that the judges are visiting the court every day and it would be appropriate that lawyers also come to the court to present their arguments in the cases. The court said, 'We are coming to court everyday. You can also come and present your arguments.' We will pay attention to the advocates present in the courtroom. Earlier, the bench rejected the request for an early hearing of a case by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing digitally. The court asked him to appear in the courtroom to present his arguments.

The bench said that when you are not in the courtroom, why should we pay attention to you? Other lawyers are also present here during the holidays. Rohatgi then urged for adjournment of the matter till tomorrow and said that he will appear in the chamber tomorrow and give arguments.
