New Delhi: The Supreme Court has come into action over the huge shortage of oxygen from many parts of the country, including the country's capital Delhi. The Supreme court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and directed the Centre to meet the oxygen shortage for Delhi within two days.
The court said the shortfall in oxygen supply to Delhi should be met on or before the night of May 3. The court also asked the central government to prepare emergency stocks within four days. The daily things or the policy of supplying oxygen to the states should be reformulated. The apex court said that unless the central government formulates any such policy, no patient can be denied hospitalization and taking necessary medicines in any state. Even if he does not have a residence certificate, even if he does not have an Identity Card, he cannot be deprived of the necessary things related to covid.
The court has ordered the Centre to work with states to prepare buffer stocks of oxygen and decentralize the location of emergency stocks.
