Mumbai: The Supreme Court, hearing the case of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, has requested that a probe be undertaken by a different body rather than the Maharashtra Police. At the same time, the court maintained the decision that Parambir Singh not be arrested. Despite the fact that the inquiry would continue, the judge said no challan will be issued against Parambir.
The Supreme Court ordered the CBI a week to respond to Parambir Singh's petition and set December 11 as the next hearing date in the matter. The state government and DGP have filed a response, according to the Maharashtra government, but the CBI has yet to respond to the subject. "How can we reply today in this matter where we have nothing to do with it?" questioned Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta.
The Supreme Court discussed whether the case should be sent to the CBI. Tushar Mehta, speaking on behalf of the CBI, stated that this should be done immediately. The CBI then requested that the Supreme Court transfer Parambir Singh's case from Mumbai police to them, and the Supreme Court requested that they provide an affidavit in support of their request.
