New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday stays the decision of the Karnataka High Court in which it had directed a criminal trial against Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa in connection with alleged corruption related to land encroachment.

A bench headed by Chief Justice (CJI) SA Bobde issued the notice while hearing CM B.S. Yediyurappa plea against the High Court verdict and stayed the prosecution against him. CM Yeddyurappa had filed a petition seeking criminal prosecution against him, challenging the High Court order. The High Court had directed the special court to take cognizance of the crimes against Yediyurappa and pursue the case on the basis of the charge sheet filed by the Lokayukta police in 2012.

In a personal complaint against CM Yediyurappa, it has been alleged that during his tenure as CM from 2008-12, he illegally notified 20 acres of land through land acquisition. So that they can get the benefit.
