New Delhi: The Supreme Court has refused to seek immediate transfer of petitions related to the hijab dispute from the Karnataka High Court to the Supreme Court. The top court said, "Why should we intervene at this stage? when the matter is already in the High Court. At the same time, the Supreme Court has also refused to give any date on it.
Placing the Karnataka hijab case before Chief Justice (CJI) N V Ramana, advocate Kapil Sibal requested the CJI to hear the matter. The CJI said, let the high court decide the matter first. It will not be right for us to interfere at the moment. Sibal, while making his argument, said the matter should be referred to a nine-judge bench for hearing. Kapil Sibal said that if you can't pass any order on this issue, then at least list it for hearing.
To this, the CJI said that the problem is that if we list the matter at this time, the High Court will not be able to hear the matter. Sibal further said that women are being attacked and stoned there. However, the CJI said that let the high court first hear the matter, after which we will look into the matter.
