Wasim Rizvi fined Rs 50,000 in SC petition seeking removal of Quran verses

New Delhi: The country's largest court has rejected the petition filed against the verses of the Quran. Along with this, the court has also imposed a fine of fifty thousand rupees on the petitioner. This petition was filed by former Shia Waqf Board Chairman Wasim Rizvi. He said that students are misled by teaching these verses.

A bench headed by Justice RF Nariman heard this petition on Monday in the Supreme court. During the hearing, the counsel for the petitioner said that I know all the facts regarding this SLP. On this, the top court said that this SLP is not writ and how serious are you about your petition? On this, the counsel for the petitioner said that these verses are taught in madrasas, students are misled by this, by teaching and explaining these verses, terrorists are prepared on a global scale. On this, the Supreme Court said that this is a baseless petition. The court dismissed the petition by imposing a fine of fifty thousand rupees on the petitioner.

Former Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi filed this petition, saying that the 26 verses of the Quran are encouraging terror and should be removed so that the name of the Muslim community cannot be associated with terrorist activities. Before filing the petition, the petitioner Rizvi also sent a copy of the original question as a precautionary measure and a copy of the petition to 56 registered Islamic organizations and institutions across the country to explain their stand.
