New Delhi: Social activist Gautam Navalkha has been dealt a major blow by the Supreme court in the Bhima Koregaon case. The court has rejected gautam navalkha's bail plea in the Algar Parishad-Maoist case. Gautam Navalkha had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court order on February 19.

The Bombay High Court had on February 8 rejected Navalkha's bail plea saying it did not see any proper reason to interfere in the Supreme court's verdict. The special court had already dismissed Gautam Navalkha's plea. According to police, the algar council meeting in Pune on December 31, 2017 allegedly made provocative and provocative speeches following which violence erupted in Bhima Koregaon. Police alleged that the programme was also supported by some Maoist organisations. The National Investigation Agency is investigating it.

The special court of NIA had on July 12, 2020 rejected gautam navalkha's bail plea. During the hearing in the High Court, Gautam Navalkha said that the period of house arrest should be included in the period of custody. However, the high court had on February 8 refused to accept the petition. The court in its order said that the Delhi High Court has already declared the order to keep him under house arrest as illegal. Therefore, illegal custody cannot be added to the custody period.
