New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused bail to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's nephew in a case registered against him in 2019. A case was registered for allegedly threatening a builder under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), a law to curb organized crime. A bench of Justice MR Shah and Justice BV Nagarathna asked the lower court to frame charges in the matter. Along with this, Dawood's nephew has been allowed to apply afresh for bail.

The Bench dismissed the petition filed against the Bombay High Court's December 2021 order dismissing the bail plea of Mohammad Rizwan Iqbal Hasan Shaikh alias Ibrahim Kaskar. The Supreme Court in its order said, 'We do not see any reason to grant bail to the applicant at this stage. The investigation has been completed and charge sheet has been filed. We direct the court to frame charges against the accused within six months from today.

Let us inform that Kaskar was arrested in July 2019. On October 10, 2019, the police had filed a charge sheet under MCOCA. According to the case, the builder was also in the business of importing electronic goods. He said that his business partner owes Rs 15 lakh. In June 2019, he received an international call from gangster Chhota Shakeel. Faheem Machmach asks him not to ask for the money back. To which the Bombay High Court, while rejecting his plea, said that no bail should be granted as the case records have shown Kaskar's involvement in the crime. On the complaint of the builder, a case was registered against Shakeel, Kaskar and others at Pydhonie police station.
