New Delhi: A hearing has been held in the top court today in the contempt case related to comments made by senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in 2009. Bhushan's lawyer Rajiv Dhawan has demanded that the matter must be referred to the Constitution Bench. Justice Arun Mishra, who is heading the bench, said that 'there is a need for a detailed hearing, in this case, I am short of time, so it would be better that another bench must consider the matter on September 10.'

The Chief Justice will constitute a new bench. Actually, Judge Mishra is retiring on 2 September. Earlier, the court said that it is not a question of punishment, it is a question of trust in the institution. When people come to the court for relief and that faith staggers, then it becomes a problem. Earlier, senior advocate Bhushan on Monday refused to apologize unconditionally for his controversial tweet in the apex court. In his supplementary affidavit filed in the court, Prashant Bhushan said, 'I raise my voice as a court officer when I feel that there is a deviation in this.'
