New Delhi: A hearing will be held in the apex court today to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the ongoing demonstration in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi for almost two months. Earlier, the Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing due to the Delhi elections. The apex court had said that it did not want to affect the voting on Saturday in Delhi.

The supreme court on Friday took suo motu cognizance of the death of a four-month-old newborn during the ongoing strike at Shaheen Bagh. After this poignant incident, the Supreme Court has decided to hear on the basis of a letter written by the Mumbai-based Bravery Award-winning girl. The Bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde will hear the matter to stop the participation of children and young people in the demonstrations today. The gallantry award winner, 12-year-old Jane Gunaratan Sadavarate, sent a letter from Mumbai to CJI Bobde.
