Lucknow: The Supreme Court will hear former Shia Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi's plea to remove 26 verses of the Quran on April 12. The case will be heard by a bench of Judge Nariman. Rizvi had filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on the matter, which he had come under spark from people of his own religion. Waseem Rizvi described some verses of the Quran as terror-promoting. Rizvi further said that these verses were not earlier in the Quran, they have been added later.
The All India Shia Personal Law Board, a leading Shia Muslim organization, had demanded the Supreme Court to dismiss former Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi's plea to remove 26 verses of Quran Sharif. However, the court has agreed to hear the case. On the other hand, the National Commission for Minorities had rejected former UP Shia Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi's demand for the removal of 26 verses from the Quran Sharif and asked him to apologize within 21 days. At the same time, the Commission said that strict legal action would be directed against Rizvi if he did not do so. The commission had also sent a notice to Rizvi.
Two organizations, Anjuman Khuddam E Rasool and Ittehad Millat Council (IMC), had filed a joint FIR against Rizvi in Bareilly, UP, after making separate complaints. Both these organizations are associated with Dargah Ala Hazrat. Moradabad's Rahat Molai Qaumi Ekta Sangathan had announced a reward of Rs 11 lakh for the beheaded man against Waseem Rizvi. The Shiane Haider-e-Karrar Welfare Association had also announced a reward of 20,000 rupees for those who beheaded him.
