Gautam Budh Nagar: People drink a lot of alcohol during the New Year celebration in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. The city dwellers drank so much that they broke all previous records. This time, the sale of alcohol was 23 percent more than the record of last year. This has earned a lot of money from the Excise Department. According to the data, on the last day of the year i.e. December 31, 2022, people in the city consumed liquor worth Rs 9 crore. This includes country liquor, foreign liquor, and beer.

In the entire December 2022, people consumed liquor worth Rs 139.6 crores. Revenue from record-breaking liquor sales has increased. The effect of exemptions given after corona restrictions for 2 years is also believed to be behind this. People of Gautam Buddh Nagar consumed 2,30,000  liters of liquor on December 31 i.e. New Year. According to the excise department, liquor worth over Rs 9 crore was consumed on December 31. At the same time, the Excise Department has also taken action on the sale of illegal liquor. The department has taken 82 operations in December and recovered 2,512 liters of liquor.

Gautam Buddh Nagar Assistant Excise Commissioner RB Singh said that there are 98 bar licenses, about 82 vocational licenses, 140 foreign liquor, 138 beer shops, 25 model shops, 231 domestic shops, and 15 premium retail vendor shops in the city. He said that in December 2022, a total of Rs 139.6 crore of liquor was sold. Liquor sales have increased by 23 percent compared to last year. There are about 550 liquor shops in Gautam Budh Nagar. In 82 other places for the New Year, there was a fierce party with an occupational license for 1 day to 3 days. During this, revenue has increased. Alcohol consumption has become very high. According to data received from the Excise Department, these 82 people had applied to the Excise Department for 1 day to 3 days of occlusal licenses. In view of all the standards, the Excise Department collected revenue by charging a fee of 11 thousand rupees a day. An occupational license was given from one day to 3 days. The excise department has earned revenue of more than Rs 10 lakh from obtaining an occlusal license.
