New Delhi: Sushmita Dev, who left the Congress and joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has now said that she has no problem with Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi. But they think TMC is an excellent platform. Sushmita has also termed the comparison between former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Abhishek Banerjee of TMC as bias.
It may be recalled that former Assam MP Sushmita Dev had resigned from Congress on August 15. Then on August 16, she had subscribed to TMC. After Sushmita's resignation, the Congress party has appointed Nita D'Souza as the executive president of the All India Mahila Congress. After joining the TMC, Sushmita Dev heaped praise on party supremo Mamata Banerjee in a press conference. She said, 'Mamata Didi is my role model and I thank her for taking me to the party. Under Mamata Banerjee's leadership, I will work to further strengthen her. I have full faith in Mamta Didi. My relationship with Mamata Banerjee is not political but like a family. Three generations of my family were associated with the Congress, but my father and Mamata Banerjee are old allies.'
Sushmita Dev said 'I think Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi will bless me to move forward.' Sushmita also said, 'I have said in the letter what I had to say to Sonia Gandhi. I don't think my decision is contradictory. It is in the interest of the people, you will understand this in the future.' She said, "I tried my best to do justice to whatever role the Congress gave me.'' She further said that the comparison between Rahul Gandhi and Abhishek Banerjee is not correct. If the two come together, it will be a bit of magic.
