Lucknow: Former Union Minister and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand, accused in the sexual harassment case of a student of Shahjahanpur, has been discharged from SGPGI Hospital on Monday. He was discharged from the hospital at 6.30 pm. After this Chinmayanand was sent to Shahjahanpur Jail. Chinmayananda was brought to KGMU hospital for eye treatment, but after check-up, he was sent back to police custody.

Earlier this month, he was admitted to Shahjahanpur Government Hospital after his health deteriorated. Subsequently, he was admitted to PGI and KGMU. Earlier on Monday, the bail pleas of both Swami Chinmayanand and the victim were dismissed. After the arguments of both the parties in the district judge's court, the bail application was rejected. In this case, Swami Chinmayanand is in judicial custody since 20 September. At the same time, the student who has made the charge since 25 September is also in judicial custody.

Chinmayanand, a student accused of rape, is imprisoned for demanding extortion. On Friday, the women's delegation of the Samajwadi Party (SP) had come to meet the student, but the jail administration did not allow the meeting. Angry SP workers had also staged a sit-in outside the jail.
