New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday inaugurated the Delhi-Meerut Expressway phase-3, built at a cost of Rs 1,058 crore. During this, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways VK Singh and Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya were present with him. On this occasion, Gadkari described the expressway as a symbol of development and said that the work of Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be completed in the next six months i.e. by January 2020.
Gadkari said that this expressway is the first such highway in the country that has been built at a rapid pace, so that it can travel from Hapur to Delhi in 40 minutes. The new alignment will start from Gurugram to Mumbai via expressway Ratlam. A saving of Rs 16000 crore has been made in constructing this road, through which it will be able to reach Mumbai in a span of 14 hours.
Gadkari said, "I hope that this highway will prove to be a growth engine. It will be the first 16 lane highway in the country, one time I went to Meerut and reached Meerut getting stuck in the entire traffic. By January, we are trying to get to Meerut Till get it done. I am also the industrial minister. This highway is the highway of development. We have started many projects to rid Delhi of pollution and traffic. About 60 thousand crores of work in Delhi Sapas are in the area. I say, it therefore does not make false promises. "
