Kochi: Swapna Suresh, the main suspect in the Kerala gold smuggling case, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday and requested that her interrogation be postponed for another two days due to health concerns.
In a statement to the press, she stated, "Due to my health concerns, I have requested two additional days to come for interrogation. I'll let you know when I have more information."
Swapna had previously requested that her appearance before the interrogating officer be rescheduled to February 15 owing to a medical appointment.
The smuggling of gold into Kerala through diplomatic channels is the subject of the Kerala gold smuggling case. It was come into light after the customs department in Thiruvananthapuram busted 30 kg gold worth Rs 14.82 crore smuggled in a consignment disguised as diplomatic baggage on July 5, 2019.
Swapna was freed from prison in November of last year after serving 16 months in prison.The Enforcement Directorate, the National Investigative Agency (NIA), and the Customs Department are also investigating the case.
