Swati Maliwal, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, appeared at Tis Hazari Court in Delhi on Friday to have her statement recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. This comes after an FIR was filed regarding an alleged assault on Maliwal, following her complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide, Bibhav Kumar.

The FIR accuses Bibhav Kumar of slapping, hitting, and kicking Maliwal at the Chief Minister's residence. It includes charges under IPC sections 354, 506, 509, and 323, covering offenses like assault on a woman, criminal intimidation, and acts to insult and assault.

The Delhi Police have requested CCTV footage from the company managing the cameras at Kejriwal's residence to investigate the incident. Eight cameras are installed there, with police deploying around ten teams to investigate, including four trying to locate Bibhav Kumar, who is reportedly in Punjab.

National Commission for Women Chief Rekha Sharma has sought an Action Taken Report from Delhi Police and mentioned that Swati Maliwal underwent a medical examination. She also shared that Maliwal initially hesitated to file a complaint but eventually did after encouragement.

Meanwhile, the BJP has criticized Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he failed to ensure women's safety in Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated in a press conference that the incident reflects poorly on the Chief Minister's administration.

The case is being closely monitored as the investigation continues to unfold.
