India swimmer Sajan Prakash failed to qualify for the semi-finals on day 4 of Tokyo Olympic 2020. The men's 200m butterfly event in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics was scheduled for today. Sajan successfully finished at fourth position in 1:57.22 seconds in Heat 2 of the event.
The Indian swimmer completed 24th overall and failed to make the cut in the top 16. Prakash, who clocked a personal best of 1:56:38 in Italy last month to breach the A mark for Olympic qualification, failed to qualify for the next round this time.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, young Indian swimmers Srihari Nataraj and Maana Patel failed to lead India in the Tokyo Olympics semi-finals. Srihari recorded a time of 54.31 seconds in men's 100m backstroke Heat 3. The young swimmer finished fifth in Heat 3 but finished 27th overall. Earlier this month, Maana Patel became the first Indian female swimmer to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics through the universality quota.
