Sydney: A 41-year-old Sydney man has been charged with murder in connection with the alleged murder of the nephew of Mahmoud "Brownie" Ahmed.

A wave of gangland violence claimed the life of 23-year-old Rami Iskander in May, when he was shot outside his home in western Sydney.

On Saturday, the police raided the house of an Otley man, who is facing several charges, including that of an assistant, after the fact of the murder.

Police detained a 38-year-old Kyle Bay woman during a separate bust. More than $500,000 in cash and other items they claim are important to their investigation were discovered by police during two raids. The 41-year-old man will be produced before the Parramatta Bell Court on Sunday.

He has been charged with abetment to murder before and after the fact, participating in criminal activity with a criminal gang, contributing to criminal gang activity and knowing how to behave in the proceeds of the crime.

The 38-year-old woman will appear in court in November after getting bail on Saturday. He is accused of participating in a criminal organization and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of the crime.

Iskander's murder has not yet been the subject of any formal allegation. Bike owner Tarek Zahid and commando biker Umar Zahid were seriously injured a few days after being shot.

Iskander's uncle "Brownie" Ahmed was shot dead in Greencare last month. More than a dozen people have been killed in what police have previously described as "tit" killings.

Hairdresser Amy Al Hajouri, 39, was killed in August during a successful attack on her friend Lameta Fadallah, who was linked to gangland elements. Amy was killed in the shootout.
