HOBART: In Scotland's T20 World Cup Group B match against the West Indies at the Bellerive Oval on Monday, opener George Munsey carried his bat throughout the innings to slam an unbeaten 66 and help Scotland score a superb 160/5.

Odean Smith concluded with statistics of 1/31, while youthful fast bowler Alzarri Joseph picked up 2/28 for the West Indies. Veteran all-rounder Jason Holder had the best bowling figures for the team with 2/14.

When Scotland was forced to bat first, they got off to a fast start, scoring 54 runs for no loss in the first six overs, including nine boundaries from Munsey and Michael Jones, until rain ended their impressive opening partnership.

Following the game resumed after a 47-minute break, Scotland only managed to score 16 runs in their next four overs before losing Jones and Matthew Cross to Jason Holder's hard-hitting lengths, which allowed West Indies to retake the lead.
Even though he was not as fluent as he had been at the start of the innings, Munsey persisted to reach his first T20 World Cup fifty and held one end up to give Scotland a score they felt comfortable defending.

Before striking three fours in Scotland's final over off Smith to reach the 160-run milestone, he went five overs without finding a boundary. Richie Berrington, the captain of Scotland, contributed 16 while Calum MacLeod made 14 off of 23 and Chris Greaves remained unbeaten on 16.

Brief ratings: Scotland defeated the West Indies by a score of 160/5 in 20 overs (George Munsey was 66 not out and Calum MacLeod was 23; Jason Holder took 2/14 and Alzarri Joseph took 2/28).
