According to media sources a Taliban delegation currently in Geneva for a five-day visit has urged for talks with the international community about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. "We demand that the international community direct all aid organisations to continue their humanitarian help without regard for political considerations, and that world governments open their borders to humanitarian aid destined for Afghanistan," the delegate told Tom Media.

The "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has accepted a humanitarian statement after high-level discussions in Geneva with our team," Geneva Call stated late Friday night on Twitter.  "The statement addresses crucial topics such as protecting and providing healthcare and education to all Afghans, as well as humanitarian help and environmental and cultural heritage preservation."

In the meanwhile, Taliban deputy spokesperson Bilal Karimi told the media that the Taliban had met with members of the International Committee of the Red Cross, European diplomats, and Swiss Foreign Ministry officials. "The Islamic Emirate delegation will meet with officials from various organisations to coordinate help to Afghanistan," Karimi said. The international world imposed sanctions on Afghanistan when the old government fell in August 2021, including the suspension of foreign funding and the freeze of the country's central bank assets worth more than $9 billion.
