Russia's special representative for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, reportedly said that the Taliban had stronger morale than NATO and US soldiers and that they were fighting for independence and against the occupation, so they deserved to win.

According to the reports, Zamir Kabulov told News-Week in Moscow that Russia wants Afghanistan to be a normal state with peace between itself and its neighbours, but raised concerns about terrorism and drugs pouring out of Afghanistan.  According to the report, Zamir Kabulov stated that they are closely monitoring the Taliban's actions and respect their administration, but that this does not imply that Russia accepts them.

"I visited Kabul in the 1990s when the Taliban first came to power, and now that I see Kabul through TV channels, I sense a significant contrast between the Taliban of today and the Taliban of the 1990s. At least ten provinces have schools for girls, TV channels are active, and experts from both the Taliban and the opposition are present. This is a slow but promising growth "Kabulov stated.

The special representative also praised the Taliban's work in Afghanistan against ISIS, saying that they are battling an international threat and that the Taliban are doing a better job than the former Afghan government, which was funded by the US, according to the report.
