KABUL: After nearly ten months, the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has introduced new uniforms for police officers, according to media reports.
The Interior Ministry stated in a statement made on Wednesday that the goal of delivering the new uniforms is to provide better security for residents and to prevent imposter misuse.
According to Ministry officials, the new uniform will be delivered initially in the provinces of Kabul and Kandahar. "Uniforms are worn by police officers and security personnel. The advantage of wearing this uniform is that it will deter impostors "Deputy Minister of Interior Mawlawi Noor Jalal Jalali remarked.
"The uniform is a critical issue for security because uniforms are linked to many issues. According to reports, Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Takur said that 20,000 new uniforms will be handed to police in Kabul and Kandahar provinces, with 100,000 more on the way.
