Kabul: The Taliban, a terror group in Afghanistan, has announced its new government. Mullah Jacob, the son of Taliban founder Mullah Omar, has been appointed as Afghanistan's new defence minister. Mullah Jacob is the son of the same Mullah Omar, the mastermind of the Kandahar Hijack in 1999.

On December 24, 1999, Pakistani terrorists hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-814 to release Jaish-e-Mohammed leader Terrorist Masood Azhar, Al Omar Mujahideen leader Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and al-Qaida leader Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. The flight, which flew from Nepal's capital Kathmandu, was taken by terrorists to Kandahar in Afghanistan. Then there was the Taliban rule in Kandahar. The three terrorists were lodged in an Indian jail. The plane was carrying 176 passengers who were held hostage by hijackers for 7 days.

The hijacking operation is believed to have been carried out with the help of Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI. Mullah Omar was the mastermind of the operation. When the plane reached Kandahar, Taliban militants surrounded the plane with tanks from all sides. When India wanted to take military action to deal with highjackers, the Taliban and Mullah Omar did not allow. Mullah Mohammad Jacob, the son of Mullah Omar, has now been made the Defence Minister of Afghanistan.
