CHENNAI:  The Tamil Nadu police are in search for a panchayat secretary for allegedly using a casteist slur against the panchayat president.

Notably, both the complainant and the accused are female.

Police have opened an investigation after receiving a complaint from the president, and they are looking for the panchayat secretary, her husband, and two other people.

The incident took place at Nanniyur Panchayat in the Karur district of Tamil Nadu, and the panchayat president, M. Sudha (31), reported it to the local police, alleging that the panchayat secretary and other ward members had treated her unfairly because of her caste.

Sudha, who is a member of the DMK in her complaint registered with the Vangal police on September 22 alleged that the panchayat secretary Nalini, her husband Murthy, the former president of the panchayat, Kumarasamy, and another fellow panchayat member,  abused her with casteist slurs. Sudha's complaint was filed with the Vangal police on September 22.

She said that Nallusamy, a fellow ward member from the AIADMK, had also abused her by using derogatory caste slur, and that Kumarasamy was a fellow DMK member.  The Vangal police opened an investigation after filing a case.
The police are pursuing Nalini, her husband Moorthy, Kumarasamy, and Nallausamy since they fled the scene. Nalini's suspension has already been mandated by Dr. T. Prabhushanker, the Karur district collector.
