Tamil Nadu: M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, proposed a new remuneration structure for employees of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation's direct purchase centres (DPCs), which purchase paddy from farmers.

The Chief Minister said the remuneration for loadmen at DPCs had been raised to Rs.10 per bag from the present Rs.3.25 per paddy bag during a State Government function in Thanjavur to inaugurate various development projects and offer welfare assistance. He also stated that the loadmen were entitled to a travel allowance. The Chief Minister announced that record clerks and watchmen will receive Rs.5,288 and Rs.5,218 per month, respectively, in addition to Rs.3,499 in Dearness Allowance.

During the upcoming Samba harvesting season, Stalin urged DPC personnel to maintain a complaint-free procurement process.

He also recalled the efforts made by the DMK Government, led by then-Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, to protect the State's right over the Cauvery water, saying it was Karunanidhi who installed the statue of Chola Emperor Raja Rajan near the Big Temple after the then-Union Government denied permission for the statue to be installed inside the temple complex.
