Chennai: The resurgence situation of COVID cases has now started showing some positive response. The lockdown has been imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19. Recently, the state, Tamil Nadu extended COVID curfew by a week.
T lockdown was earlier to end on the morning of May 31, would now be continued till 6 am on June 7, as per new orders of Chief Minister M K Stalin on Friday. However, government will change some guidelines unlike the current lockdown in which grocery and provision stores are keeping shut. Now, during the extended period, provision store owners would be allowed to undertake door deliveries from 7 am to 6 pm. The shopkeepers will be allowed to sell things on push carts or vans or deliver them by taking orders online or over phone in their respective localities. As for vegetables and fruits, Stalin said they will continue to be sold through vans. Besides, the State would distribute a kit containing 13 provisional items to rice ration card holders in the State.
Talking about the COVID situation in state, Tamil Nadu records the numbers of active Covid-19 cases. The state registered a negative growth on Friday, for the first time in 84 days. Active cases have been rising since March 6 and on Thursday, the state had 3,13,048 patients under treatment. On Friday, it dropped to 3,12,386. Also for the first time in four weeks, the discharge count 31,255 outpaced the fresh infection count 31,079.
