Tamil Nadu: On Thursday, a team from the Tamil Nadu Department of Forensic Science, led by Director Srinivasan, arrived at the chopper accident site near Kattery in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and 11 people on board the IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter died in the disaster.
Air Leader Marshal VR Chaudhari, the chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), had visited the accident site earlier in the day. Tamil Nadu DGP C Sylendra Babu accompanied him.
On Wednesday, General Rawat's chopper crashed near Coonoor while its route from Sulur to Wellington. When his chopper crashed, General Rawat, India's first CDS, was on his way to the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington to address the professors and student officers of the Staff Course. The IAF has launched an investigation into the incident.
