Tiruvannamalai district Collector Sandeep Nanduri has informed that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is expected to start 10 mini clinics exclusively for distribution of COVID-19 vaccine in Tiruvannamalai district on December 15. He added, a special committee of medicos are deployed for inspecting the proposed sites for the mini clinics to ensure that it meets all requirements to ensure seamless flow of COVID-19 vaccine to all. 

The district which has a total of 410 health outlets, including 93 rural PHC, 6 urban PHCs and 10 government hospitals, including the government HQ hospital at Cheyyar and the Government Medical College Hospital at Tiruvannamalai is gearing up for inoculation. Inoculation is to happen in three phases. The first phase will include doctors, nurses and para medical personnel in government and private hospitals, while the second phase will cover all front line workers and the third phase is scheduled for those above 50 years and suffering from comorbidities, Tirupattur collector MP Sivan Arul revealed. 

Ground work has started towards the cold storage facilities at 40 locations in government medical institutions while officials have requested the state government to sanction 10 more for Tirupattur district, Tiruppatur collector informed. “Vaccines will be provided to the public through 650 outlets in various government buildings with proper procedures being followed. The state is expected to announces special and separate SOPs for such outlets,” he added. In Vellore district, arrangements are underway to register the names of 15,000 medical personnel and upload their names on the department website to receive the vaccine, officials revealed.
